Can I take Celecoxib with alcohol or tobacco products?
– It is not advisable to take celecoxib with alcohol or tobacco products. Alcohol can increase the risk of stomach ulcers, bleeding, and liver damage caused by celecoxib
– Tobacco can worsen the inflammation and cardiovascular problems that celecoxib may cause
– Therefore, you should avoid or limit your consumption of alcohol and tobacco while taking celecoxib.
What are the other side effects of Celecoxib?
– Some of the other side effects of celecoxib that have been reported in less than 1% of patients taking the drug are:
• Constipation, diverticulitis, dysphagia, eructation, esophagitis, gastritis, gastroenteritis, gastroesophageal reflux, hemorrhoids, hiatal hernia, melena, dry mouth, stomatitis, tenesmus, tooth disorder, vomiting.
• Abnormal growth in the breast, arm, back, or jaw pain, bloody or black tarry stools, blurred vision, burning feeling in the chest or stomach, burning or stinging of the skin, burning tingling numbness or pain in the hands arms feet or legs, chest pain discomfort tightness or heaviness, chills, confusion, cramps, dilated neck veins, itching joints or muscle pain, light-colored stools, pale or bluish skin colour of the fingers or toes, red irritated eyes, red skin lesions often with a purple center, seizures, slurred speech, sores welting or blisters, sudden and severe inability to speak, ulcers or white spots in the mouth or on the lips, unpleasant breath odor, weakness in the arm or leg on one side of the body yellow eyes and skin.
• Nerve pain, earache, dysgeusia (change in sense of taste), loss of taste.
• Allergic reactions (such as hives, itching, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the throat), liver problems (such as jaundice or hepatitis), kidney problems (such as reduced urine output or blood in urine), eye problems (such as blurred vision or eye inflammation), skin problems (such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis), and psychiatric problems (such as anxiety or depression).
– These side effects are rare but serious and may require medical attention. If you experience any of these side effects while taking celecoxib, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
